I’ve been sluggish with the Five Minute Friday prompts lately. So consider this Five Minute Monday.
So here we go.
It’s hard to see the sunlight when your face is smeared in the dirt. It’s hard to enjoy the strong cup of coffee when every swig is full of coffee grounds. No matter how much you want to see it, no matter how much you want to enjoy it, the stark reality of your situation kicks you in the shins with a crackling laugh and a sneer.
All you can think about is the dirt in your nostrils. The only thing on your mind is the gritty coffee on your tongue. The last thing on your mind is the blessed sun or the aromatic coffee.
But He calls you to reflect.
Reflect on His sun. Reflect on His aroma. Reflect on His faithfulness through all the dirt.
Reflect on His grace, the grace that pulled you from the filthy pit of sin, where you wallowed miserably like a pig. Reflect on His new garments, in which He clothed you when He saved you. Reflect on His promises, which He never forgets. Reflect on the strength He has given you for today and the strength He saves for tomorrow.
Reflect, and, without further ado, squint through the dirt. Wince through the coffee grounds. And taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
