Lent and Valentine’s Day

I don’t want to say much more on the topic than simply quote a member in our church:

We’re already to “Abstain from every form of evil” 1 Thessalonians 5:22. If you give that up “for Lent” you’re doing it wrong. Give it up forever!

Amen! We are saved by God’s grace! Why would we dedicate only a few weeks out of the year to obeying His word and struggling with our sins and avoiding temptations? If you are truly saved, you are called to be more than that… “Give it up forever!”

Also, in keeping with Valentine’s Day, a great quote I’ve known since I was a pre-teen and saw it hanging in the kitchen where my mom could see it:

There is no more lovely, friendly, and charming relationship, communion, or company than a good marriage.

~ Martin Luther
